Self-Portrait On Sand Dune
Sossusvlei, Namibia, Africa
Camera: Rolleiflex
The story: "Imagine a world wild and beautiful, and you'll find a place beyond. A place that is wilder and more stunning than your imagination permits. Every time I am immersed in a natural hot spot I can't help but feel "now I have seen it all." Then I stumble blindly but with hidden purpose onto the next and repeat the feelings all over again. Each in its own way is more beautiful than the last. Unique in its own wondrous splendor. Mother Nature in her own divine way is truly an artist and a surrealist at that!
The dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert of Namibia have the title of the "highest sand dunes in the world." Their size and color astounds the palette. The lack of water seems to extend forever, thirst being pervasive even immediately after a drink. For two days I climbed the dunes, exploring with no particular goal or destination in mind. I experienced it like a dream, floating on the colors to reach the blue."
