Midnight Snowfall

What makes it special: I put myself in the middle of extremes and then I try to disappear, to not effect anything, but to see, feel and preserve everything.

The story:  "As morning came the storm grew stronger and the snow blew hard. I sat next to the wood stove in the patrol shack sipping tea, hoping for an unlikely break in the weather.

Staring out the window, I saw a ray of light break through the clouds. The scene instantly transformed. Rays of light lit the snowflakes from above as if they were stars floating down to earth. I grabbed my camera, ran outside, and fired away. I exposed the film to highlight the small sparkles of light and pushed the sky black. I worked frantically to keep my lens dry, stopping only to reload. The selective light on falling snow filled me with a sense of timeless peace. I marveled as the trees and mountains faded away and I looked deep into the center of the universe."
